No. 2: Cornerback Emmanuel Moseley

The 49ers have a good deal of depth at cornerback this preseason, yet the position group remains largely fluid behind the only bona fide starter, Richard Sherman.

One player to keep an eye on here, though, is 2018 undrafted free-agent corner Emmanuel Moseley.

Moseley was eventually promoted to San Francisco’s active roster late in 2018, yet landed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury after just one appearance. Yet the Niners still envisioned him being a part of the depth equation, choosing not to waive/injured him in the weeks that followed.

And after his performance against the Chiefs, Moseley looks to be in solid shape to make up the back end of the roster.

Moseley recorded two tackles during the contest, while also registering two key pass breakups. At 5-foot-11 and 184 pounds, Moseley is likely only a viable option for nickel cornerback duties. But the Niners have some question marks there heading towards the regular season.

Starting nickel back K’Waun Williams is still sidelined with a knee issue. His primary backup, second-year defender D.J. Reed, has had some up-and-down moments this preseason, too.

If Moseley accounts for himself well enough during the 49ers’ final preseason bout, it wouldn’t be shocking at all if he finds himself on the 53-man roster to start Week 1.

Especially if those other concerns remain the same.
