Nothing has changed here, except the 49ers are now certain to have kicker Robbie Gould back for 2019, after the former Chicago Bear signed a new four-year, $19 million contract in mid-July.

This, combined with rookie punter Mitch Wishnowsky and his ability to tackle like a safety, solidifies this group for the next several years.

The question will be about long-snapper Colin Holba and whether he’s here for the entire season or is just holding down the fort until the return of Kyle Nelson from his PED suspension.

Again, this is a decision the 49ers don’t have to make right now. So, for the opening day roster, the spot is all Holba’s.
