Round 8: WR Sammy Watkins, Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins‘ fantasy football draft stock skyrocketed when the news of fellow wideout Tyreek Hill‘s expected suspension due to allegations of child abuse and neglect first broke. Understandably, his draft stock has since plummeted after the NFL announced Hill will not be suspended over the allegations this season:

Everyone wants a piece of the Chiefs’ prolific passing game, led by quarterback Mahomes, who threw for 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in 2018. But even if Watkins won’t be Kansas City’s top wideout — and second-best receiving option after tight end Travis Kelce — the sixth-year wide receiver still provides the potential for significant upside this season:

Watkins’ issue has never been a lack of talent; the speedster simply needs to remain healthy in order to be a fantasy asset within the Chiefs’ juggernaut offense.

If Watkins can stay on the field, there are more than enough targets to go around in Kansas City. And if the team loses the undersized Hill to injury or future disciplinary action, the sky is the limit for the Chiefs’ sixth-year wide receiver.

Eight rounds into our 2019 perfect fantasy football mock draft, we’ve stocked up with four running backs and four wide receivers. So, when are we going to make a move on a quarterback or tight end?
