Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice may be the greatest player of all time let alone his standings on a 49ers all-time team.

The records, rings and accolades speak for themselves. Rice is the epitome of NFL greatness, and the 49ers couldn’t have asked for a better face to their storied history.

He had 1,281 receptions for 19,247 yards and 176 touchdowns during his fabled San Francisco career from 1985 through 2000.

Some records, like his 22,895 career receiving yards, may never be broken.

What is, perhaps, even more impressive is how Rice would be selected to the Pro Bowl in 1986 and not miss another Pro Bowl until an injury thwarted his 1997 season. Rice would also be named first team All-Pro in all but one of the seasons over the same time span.

In 2000, Rice was winding down his 49ers tenure and wide receiver Terrell Owens was cementing himself as the team’s No. 1 target.

While Owens may be associated with sideline antics and controversy, there is little doubting the impact he made on the field.

During his 49er tenure, Owens would amass a total of 592 receptions for 8,572 yards and 81 touchdowns. His receiving yards and touchdowns place him second on the 49ers’ all-time leaders list behind Rice.
