Cornerback

Lock: Richard Sherman, Ahkello Witherspoon, Jason Verrett, K’Waun Williams

Strong Bubble: D.J. Reed

Weak Bubble: Tim Harris, Greg Mabin, Dontae Johnson

Long Shot: Emmanuel Moseley, Alex Brown

It’s looking as if veteran cornerback Richard Sherman is 100 percent healthy after spending much of 2018 still dealing with the affects and post-surgery setbacks from his 2017 Achilles tear. And that’s a good thing, considering how problematic San Francisco’s secondary was a year ago.

Opposite him at the boundary, however, things are still a bit fluid.

Third-year pro Ahkello Witherspoon was one of the better defensive performers during OTAs, and it appears he’ll be in solid competition with oft-injured corner Jason Verrett for the No. 2 starting gig.

Tavarius Moore’s switch to safety means the 49ers can run their cornerback group a little light on depth, and special teams abilities will go a long way in determining who stays off the bubble.

It also appears as if K’Waun Williams is starting to run away from his primary competition, second-year pro D.J. Reed, for the starting nickel job.
