51. . Quarterback. Los Angeles Rams. Jared Goff. 6. player

Aside from a handful of tough matchups late in the season, especially that ugly four-interception one against the Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff was a fine option for QB1 status.

After all, head coach Sean McVay’s offense was built to support Goff, playing to his strengths and giving him every opportunity to thrive off play-action passes.

Fantasy owners don’t care about how it’s done. They just care about the numbers, and Goff was mostly good at getting those for much of the year.

The Bears, Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots showed, however, a key to stopping Goff is not biting on play action. One might expect a lot of teams to copy the formula this year. And with running back Todd Gurley dealing with a nagging knee injury, Goff’s numbers could take a pretty big hit this season.

As a QB2 or option in deeper leagues, Goff is a fine choice. Yet his 8.11 ADP is pretty high for this position, and most fantasy owners would be wiser grabbing the Los Angeles Chargers’ Philip Rivers (10.08 ADP) instead.
