Don’t blame the Patriots for not seriously thinking about reaching for a quarterback in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Unless you’re banking on Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham, of course.

Head coach Bill Belichick and the Pats obviously know replacing future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady is on the cards here soon, and the 2019 draft class wasn’t exactly prolific.

But that won’t be the case in 2020, and there are more than a number of fringe first rounders who could wind up being drafted much earlier than anticipated.

One of those on the fringes is Stanford’s K.J. Costello, who’ll look to improve his stock after completing just over 65 percent of his passes his junior year with the Cardinal.

Costello wouldn’t have to start right away, of course, instead being the protege Belichick helps develop as a lasting legacy when both he and Brady finally elect to call it quits.
