Despite leading the NFL in sacks a year ago, the Kansas City Chiefs elected to make wholesale changes on the defensive side of the ball during the offseason, including letting both Justin Houston and now-49ers EDGE Dee Ford go.

It wouldn’t be shocking if both quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense settle back down to earth a bit this season (they can’t stay at that level forever, right), which puts increased pressure on head coach Andy Reid’s defense to perform better after a rough, rough 2018 campaign.

Kansas City made some nice moves, particularly in the secondary, during the 2019 NFL Draft. Getting some added pressure up front and off the edge should be the next priority.

Michigan State EDGE Kenny Willekes managed eight sacks a year ago, combined with 20.5 tackles for a loss. He might be overlooked, compared to many of the other outside pass-rushers right now.

But that doesn’t change the fact he has a ton of upside.
