No. 2: Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo

When it came out quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had torn his ACL in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs last year, everybody knew that the season was over. Garoppolo was the face of the team and had single-handedly carried it the season before.

Quarterback is arguably the most important position on any football team, which automatically puts Garoppolo high on this list. After all, we all saw how the team collapsed after Garoppolo went down last season, piling up losses in the process.

However, the reason why Garoppolo does not get the top spot on this list is because of the emergence of one of his backups, Nick Mullens, who performed admirably in Garoppolo’s absence.

Mullens was able to string together some wins and looks the part. He even got the 49ers their first win over division rival Seahawks in over five years.

If Garoppolo goes down this year, it’s not over. But we need the star to stay healthy.
