No. 4: Cornerback Richard Sherman

When the 49ers signed cornerback Richard Sherman in free agency last year, fans were understandably concerned about how well the ex-Seattle Seahawk would recover from his torn Achilles from 2017.

The cornerback shut down any concerns with his play last year. He only missed one game and played the rest like he was in the prime of his career. Father Time doesn’t seem to be catching up to the 31 year old, and it is exciting to see how he will continue locking down his side of the field in 2019.

However, the other side of the field is a different story. Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon had a disappointing sophomore season, and the newly signed Jason Verrett hasn’t played a snap in nearly two years.

If Sherman gets hurt, the team’s cornerback situation will be very messy, and could prove to be detrimental to the defense and the team as a whole.
