Stock Up: Wide Receiver Deebo Samuel

OTAs can be so crucial for rookies, so it’s a good thing first-year wide receiver Deebo Samuel is already making solid impressions out of the gate.

Samuel, the 49ers’ second-round NFL Draft choice from 2019, has apparently established a rapport with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, as indicated by The Athletic’s Matt Barrows and backed up by Jimmy G’s comments himself.

“Deebo, he’s had a couple, yesterday especially, that after the catch he’s just so explosive and fast,” Garoppolo told the press after the second day of OTAs.

The 49ers hotly pursued Samuel after failing to produce a single 500-yard wide receiver in 2018. Samuel should be able to immediately contend for a starting job alongside second-year pro wideout, Dante Pettis.

By the looks of it, Samuel is well on his way towards doing so.
