No. 2: Deebo Samuel

Coming in at No. 2, Deebo Samuel has all the traits Kyle Shanahan loves in a wide receiver. It would appear the 49ers fell in love with Samuel, having spent the week with him during the 2019 Senior Bowl and garnering valuable time to train and asses the young receiver.

He finished his senior year with 62 receptions for 882 yards, with 14.2 yards per reception and 11 touchdowns. Samuel shows great ability and speed to separate from defenders much like wide receiver Dante Pettis whom Shanahan picked up in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

While he isn’t a big receiver, coming in at 5-foot-11 and 214 pounds, Samuel will aggressively contest catches and get after the ball, utilizing his quickness to gain valuable yards after the catch.

Samuel completed the NFL Scouting Combine 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds, three-cone drill in 7.03 seconds and the 20-yard shuttle in 4.14 seconds.

He is a great route runner, something Shanahan values immensely and has the reliability with his hands to hold onto the ball. Samuel should see considerable game time during his rookie year.
