Perhaps this is the year in which Denver Broncos general manager John Elway finally gets it right with a quarterback selection.

The strong-armed Drew Lock falling into Round 2 was about the most perfect scenario Elway could have envisioned, as many a big board had him pegged behind Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins.

Perhaps Elway should be sending a thank-you card to Dave Gettleman and the Giants for reaching on Daniel Jones, right?

Adding a playmaking tight end in Noah Fant should help bolster an offense lacking weapons, thereby making veteran quarterback Joe Flacco’s first year in Denver all the more easy. Flacco is a placeholder for Lock, of course, but at least the Broncos won’t be forced into making a transition.

Grabbing versatile offensive lineman Dalton Risner in Round 2 was an absolute steal, too.

Still, the entire focus of Denver’s 2019 drafting efforts will focus on what happens with Lock. If he winds up being the latest version of Elway’s quarterbacking busts, the Hall of Famer could wind up on the hot seat.

For now, Denver stays put in our NFL power rankings.
