Boy, the Chiefs sure have had an interesting offseason, so it’s no surprise they drop in NFL power rankings.

The situation with wide receiver Tyreek Hill is awful, and it’s anyone’s guess how much that affected Kansas City’s NFL Draft plans, perhaps influencing the decision to grab Georgia’s Mecole Hardman in Round 2 when the Chiefs were first able to select.

Remaking the defense during the offseason was the priority, however, as both pass-rushers Justin Houston and Dee Ford are gone. Yet the Chiefs were able to dish off a pick for Frank Clark, which should be an upgrade over Ford. Adding safety Tyrann Mathieu and selecting Juan Thornhill in the draft help solidify the secondary, too.

Will he be enough, though?

In all likelihood, the Chiefs are going to be as good as their offense will carry them, as was the case last year. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is going to come down to earth a bit after arguably the best single season in NFL history. He has to, right? In fact, Kansas City is likely to suffer some sort of regression with so many changes from last year.

Teams aren’t going to be taken by surprise by the Chiefs again this year, especially after such a turbulent offseason.
