All the Cowboys have to do, when someone laughs at them for not having a first-round NFL Draft pick, is look at highlight reels of Amari Cooper and the difference he made for Dallas down the stretch last season.
Cooper ignited some life into the Cowboys offense, which spells plenty of good things for quarterback Dak Prescott and Co. It should take the load off running back Ezekiel Elliott, too, as Dallas looks to reclaim its hold on the NFC East this year.
While it might not be quite as potent as it was a year ago, the Cowboys offensive line will add a very solid player in Penn State’s Connor McGovern. And while the majority of pass-rushing duties still fall upon the shoulders of EDGE Demarcus Lawrence, Miami’s Joe Jackson on the other end should provide some nice depth and rotational opportunities.
Dallas doesn’t move in our NFL power rankings after the draft. In fairness, though, it didn’t have to. Right now, the Cowboys are looking at getting deeper in the playoffs and contending for a conference championship.
The Cowboys will have some long-term contractual questions ahead of them, which puts a lot of emphasis on winning right now.
Dallas still misses out on the top tier of NFL power rankings, though.
