The Seattle Seahawks trading off EDGE Frank Clark just before the NFL Draft was something of a shocking move, for sure. Clark, easily one of Seattle’s best defenders, was a prime reason the pass rush was so effective. It’s hard to ay TCU’s L.J. Collier will wind up being anything close to a replacement, yet that’s the hope.

Clark’s trade is a big reason why the Seahawks drop a lot in our NFL power rankings, and the lack of serious attention given to the secondary, aside from Utah safety Marquise Blair, is a bit alarming as well.

Yet the whole point for Seattle now is to reinforce the idea this is quarterback Russell Wilson’s squad. After getting his new contract, the Seahawks will still be a run-first offense after finishing tops in the league here a year ago.

But it still made sense for Seattle to go after NFL Scouting Combine standout, Ole Miss’ D.K. Metcalf, late in Round 2. He might have to replace veteran wideout Doug Baldwin, whose repeated injuries could force him into early retirement, unfortunately.

Metcalf has a ton of upside, sure. Yet the jury will be out until he winds up proving he’s more than just a workout warrior, solidifying himself as a massive threat in spite of his route-running concerns.
