One should have a weird feeling the Tennessee Titans could trend in the wrong direction this season, and they could find themselves in the bottom tier of NFL power rankings for much of 2019. And there likely won’t be any magic from the Titans being able to host the NFL Draft in Nashville, Tennessee, either.

Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons was a good pickup, sure. A good top-20 pickup, though? Not so much. There were better players available at No. 19 overall.

Tennessee made up for it, however, by landing Ole Miss’ A.J. Brown in the latter half of Round 2. That was a steal, and it wasn’t completely out of the question Brown could have been a first-round pick.

Maybe he finally winds up being the prolific wide receiver the Titans have been seeking for quarterback Marcus Mariota for some time now.

Mariota’s health will be a concern, of course, and it’s hard to envision now-backup signal-caller Ryan Tannehill helping things out much if things go bad with the former.

Perhaps things work out in Tennessee, but things are looking to be pretty tough in 2019.
