Wide Receiver a Possible 49ers Target in Round 2
Barring the insane, the Niners will use their first pick in the NFL Draft on a defensive player, even if they trade out of that spot (more on that in a second, too).
Things get interesting in Round 2, however, where San Francisco is currently slated to pick at No. 36 overall.

A wide receiver seems to be the consensus selection here, especially after no Niners wideout reached 500 receiving yards in 2018 and the team is still yearning for red-zone help this offseason.
Ole Miss’ A.J. Brown, Iowa’s Hakeem Butler, N’Keal Harry of Arizona State, Baylor’s Jalen Hurd, South Carolina’s Deebo Samuel and Preston Williams of Colorado State (h/t 49ers Webzone) have all met with the 49ers, and there’s likely more.
“I think it says that there’s a lot of depth at that position,” John Lynch told the media in advance of the NFL Draft. “There’s a lot of guys who we like, and there’s different reasons we bring guys in. Just like any position, that may be a spot where we try to improve our team. Fortunately, in this year’s draft, it seems to be a good stable of guys who can help.”
Many of those names are either fringe first rounders or solid choices in Round 2.
A dead giveaway, perhaps?
And if that’s not enough, Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller (h/t 49ers Webzone) reported the Niners have a lot of serious interest in Samuel and Harry.
The 2019 NFL Draft officially kicks off tonight, April 25 at 8 p.m. ET. Be sure to make Niner Noise your home for everything 49ers draft!
