2019 NFL Draft Top-50 Big Board & 49ers’ Targets

Gauging how any NFL Draft will pan out is little more than educated guesswork. But a lot of that is contingent on looking at analysts’ various big boards.

While we could choose a few, The Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling has a pretty good one for his top 50:

"1. Quinnen Williams | DL | Alabama 2. Nick Bosa | EDGE | Ohio State 3. Ed Oliver | DL | Houston 4. Josh Allen | EDGE | Kentucky 5. Dwayne Haskins | QB | Ohio State 6. Kyler Murray | QB | Oklahoma 7. Jonah Williams | OT | Alabama 8. Brian Burns | EDGE | Florida State 9. Devin White | LB | LSU 10. Christian Wilkins | DL | Clemson 11. Noah Fant | TE | Iowa 12. Devin Bush | LB | Michigan 13. T.J. Hockenson | TE | Iowa 14. Clelin Ferrell | EDGE | Clemson 15. Montez Sweat | EDGE | Mississippi State 16. Byron Murphy | CB | Washington 17. Garrett Bradbury | OL | North Carolina State 18. Jerry Tillery | DL | Notre Dame 19. Jawaan Taylor | OT | Florida 20. D.K. Metcalf | WR | Ole Miss 21. Rashan Gary | DL | Michigan 22. Hakeem Butler | WR | Iowa State 23. Greedy Williams | CB | LSU 24. Jachai Polite | EDGE | Florida 25. Chase Winovich | EDGE | Michigan 26. Dalton Risner | OT | Kansas State 27. Jeffery Simmons | DL | Mississippi State 28. Andre Dillard | OT | Washington State 29. Dexter Lawrence | DL | Clemson 30. Chris Lindstrom | OL | Boston College 31. Cody Ford | OT | Oklahoma 32. Deandre Baker | CB | Georgia 33. N’Keal Harry | WR | Arizona State 34. Josh Jacobs | RB | Alabama 35. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson | DB | Florida 36. A.J. Brown | WR | Ole Miss 37. Erik McCoy | OL | Texas A&M 38. Drew Lock | QB | Missouri 39. Amani Oruwariye | CB | Penn State 40. Taylor Rapp | S | Washington 41. Mack Wilson | LB | Alabama 42. Nasir Adderley | DB | Delaware 43. Kelvin Harmon | WR | North Carolina State 44. Rock Ya-Sin | CB | Temple 45. Charles Omenihu | DL | Texas 46. Justin Layne | CB | Michigan State 47. Deebo Samuel | WR | South Carolina 48. Irv Smith, Jr. | TE | Alabama 49. Will Grier | QB | West Virginia 50. Deionte Thompson | S | Alabama"

It’s important to remember big boards never equate to how a draft pans out, especially when you consider team needs, etc.

So, which players should be garnering serious interest from San Francisco?

There are the obvious two, Nick Bosa and Quinnen Williams. Josh Allen is there, of course. And if the Niners trade down, another edge rusher — Clelin Ferrell, Brian Burns or Montez Sweat — could work his way into the mix.

Things get interesting in Round 2, however, where the 49ers could be looking at wide receivers or safeties. A.J. Brown is a name to keep an eye on, as is Deebo Samuel. Both already met with the Niners leading up to the NFL Draft.

Defensive backs Nasir Adderley, Deionte Thompson, Justin Layne and Virginia’s Juan Thornhill could also be in the mix, too.

So, who winds up being the newest members of the 49ers in 2019? Let’s mock it out, shall we?
