Picks 21 to 25: Chris Lindstrom, Guard, Boston College

Chris Lindstrom is a safe and reliable choice to put in as a Week 1 starter on most offensive lines around the NFL. Such players are pretty rare to find so late in the first round, but guards are not sorely sought after high in the draft most of the time.

The catch here is that guard happens to be an area that could use an upgrade in the 49ers offensive line.

in my draft prospect profile on Lindstrom, I didn’t find much wrong with him as a player aside from his arms being slightly undersized for the position. However his technique is textbook perfect, which helps mitigate this factor.

It’s not a sexy pick, but any pick to make the team better is a good one.

They could also consider

You can’t rule out a run on wide receivers starting at this point, and the 49ers may be tempted to go with someone they feel may not be available at this stage.

Cornerback is a definite consideration, too. A player like LSU’s Greedy Williams or Washington’s Byron Murphy could be considered here to upgrade the defensive back stocks.
