When the football gods bless you with good fortune, don’t question it; simply hand in your draft card as quickly as possible.

Nick Bosa isn’t the perfect college prospect, but he’s the best player in the 2019 NFL Draft, playing one of the game’s most important positions, which happens to be the 49ers’ biggest position of need.

This pick is a no-brainer, because there’s no such thing as an NFL football team having “too many” impact defensive linemen and edge rushers on its roster.

But now comes the hard part. Like the Cardinals, the 49ers have a number of roster holes to fill, but unlike Arizona, San Francisco has just six total selections in the 2019 NFL Draft.

If the Niners land Bosa in the first round, what will general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan do with their remaining five draft picks?

The “Best Player Available” strategy will surely play a role in the front office’s decision-making process, but in a year where the 49ers’ brass need to show significant progress, San Francisco needs to add talented youngsters who will play prominent roles for the team in 2019.

A year after ignoring the EDGE position — to the detriment of the team — do Lynch and Shanahan recognize where their roster needs immediate upgrades? The 49ers’ selections on Day 2 of the draft will offer us valuable insight into the duo’s thought process.
