2019 NFL Draft: Full Round 1 mock with trades, April Fools’ version
By Peter Panacy
Before NFL free agency, the Detroit Lions’ top defensive need was helping out with the pass rush, namely finding a replacement for oft-injured EDGE Ezekiel Ansah.
The Lions did this by adding one of head coach Matt Patricia’s former standouts, EDGE Trey Flowers, which should be a massive boost to the defense this season. And while Patricia should look towards getting yet another pass-rusher and some more defensive line help, finding some quality cover corners early should be a priority as well.
Especially considering how deep this year’s pass-rushing class is.
There are far fewer cornerbacks, unfortunately. On the positive side, though, LSU’s Greedy Williams is a perfect choice to a top-drafting team needing help in the secondary. LSU has a strong history of producing top defensive backs, and Williams should be able to step in right away and contribute, taking advantage of an upgraded Detroit pass rush that’ll hopefully force some turnovers this season.
