No. 1: Cornerback Kayvon Webster

There’s a real chance Jason Verrett suffers yet another injury this year that keeps him from being a contributor to the 49ers secondary. Likewise, there’s also a real chance the sub-adequate 2018 play from younger cornerbacks, Ahkello Witherspoon and Tarvarius Moore, is going to repeat itself this season.

So it might be worthwhile for San Francisco to explore some other options.

One of those is veteran cornerback Kayvon Webster, who spent the last season with the Houston Texans after playing with both the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams.

Webster dealt with a leg injury for most of last season, which limited him to just two games played. Still, he has boundary experience and will likely come on the cheap because of his injury.

At 5-foot-11, Webster doesn’t exactly embody the kind of player the Niners would want in their boundary corners. Neither does Verrett, though, so that’s kind of a moot point.

What’s more notable, though, is Webster plays bigger than his size indicates.

Assuming he remains unsigned, perhaps the 49ers get into the mix as late players in an attempt to both reinforce and upgrade their secondary.
