No. 5: Offensive Guard Rodger Saffold

With Mike Person signing to a new contract, the Niners ensured that there will be continuity along the offensive line. By all accounts, a smart signing. This should not prevent the team from adding more competition at the position, though.

The Los Angeles Rams don’t seem interested in re-signing their 30-year-old guard Rodger Saffold. The 49ers need to add him to what is turning out to be impressive offensive line depth.

A durable player, Saffold is entering his 10th season and has played every spot along the line but center. In a position group that often gets better after the age of 30, Saffold would help reinforce an area of strength for the team.
