No. 3: Cornerback Amani Oruwariye

With the likes of cornerbacks DeAndre Baker and Greedy Williams set to go in the first round of the NFL Draft, the 49ers will have to look to Round 2 to pick up a corner.

Cornerback Amani Oruwariye is a solid choice here for a second-round pick. Out of Penn State, Oruwariye comes in at 6-foot-1 and 203 pounds. The 49ers will have closely assessed the corner during the week-long Senior Bowl camp, due to Oruwariye being part of the 49ers’ South Team.

With the Niners needing additional depth at corner, Oruwariye may just be their man. With his great size and ability to read routes, he will be an attractive option. He finished 2018 with a combined 50 tackles and three interceptions. Oruwariye also racked up four interceptions in 2017 and could greatly help the 49ers in this regard.

Known for his zone and press coverage, The Draft Network also pointed out “Oruwariye has the traits needed to matchup with ‘X’ receivers in man coverage, making him a scheme-versatile defender.”

With his ability to pressure receivers through the use of his size and aggressive playing style, the 49ers need to take Oruwariye with their No. 2 pick.
