No. 8: Second half of Super Bowl XIX versus the Miami Dolphins

This is not to say the 49ers were not beating the tar out of the Miami Dolphins in the first half of Super Bowl XIX. Championships are won by teams that can close games.

This is especially true when Dan Marino was the opposing quarterback.

Going into the locker room with a 28-16 lead, the Niners came out in the second half determined to put the game away. The 49ers defense sacked Marino four times after halftime and held the Dolphins scoreless. Joe Montana was error-free, as always, and the Niners secured their second Super Bowl title in the 38-16 win.
