No. 5: Randall Cobb

George Kittle is emerging as the best all-around tight end in the NFL. Last season he set the record for most receiving yards by a tight end. Now imagine if he wasn’t the Niners only receiving threat.

The 49ers 2018 receiving corps was built on promises and potential, none of which came to bear. Wide receiver quickly moved to offensive priority No. 1.

There is a lot to like about Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb. He will be 29 in August, he is versatile and he is a former Pro-Bowler. The Niners should absolutely not sign him.

At 5-foot-10, 189 pounds and declining production, Cobb would give 49ers fans whiplash if he achieved the career turnaround required to justify his signing. After his peak in 2014, a Pro Bowl season, Cobb’s production has steadily declined. In 2015, Cobb actually received the most targets in his career but only the third most receptions. Since 2015 his usage has dwindled. This in combination with Green Bay’s decision to let him walk leads me to believe Cobb is on the back nine of his career.
