Niner Noise Big Board: Top 5

No. 1: Nick Bosa, Defensive End, Ohio State

It was never going to be anyone else, and it may not be anyone else for the entire process.

Nick Bosa is the prospect everyone loves. He’s versatile, has no weaknesses and looks set to impact the NFL from day one.

I’ve seen people leery of his muscle-core surgery and his decision to sit the rest of the year. Draft scouts don’t care nearly as much.

Maybe it’s overpraising him a little, but there just isn’t a weakness in his game. The only way I foresee Bosa being a bust is if he gets complacent and doesn’t work hard. His attitude and determination gives no credence to this fear.

Amazingly, there is a chance Bosa is available to the 49ers. The Cardinals need a defensive tackle more than they need a defensive end (although that’s still a position of need), and there is a blue chip nearly as good as Bosa in Williams.

Alternatively, the declaration of Haskins for the draft means there’s at least two quarterbacks that will go high in the draft. A war to get one of the signal callers could see Arizona decide to trade down and acquire draft capital.

Either way, Bosa is the crown jewel of this class.
