The contract that the 49ers gave Kyle Juszczyk was absolutely ludicrous — no team pays a fullback that much money. However, as the front office has repeatedly said, Kyle Shanahan uses Juszczyk as much more than a fullback — as an “OW” (offensive weapon).

Yes, Juszczyk is sometimes utilized as a receiver, but the fullback’s real value is his blocking skills. The huge success of the 49ers’ run game this year has to be credited to Juszczyk, who has done a lot of dirty work blocking inside that a skill player does not usually do.

The highest paid fullback in the league is a glorified offensive lineman, who can also run the ball and catch passes, and that is completely fine with me.
