52. . Quarterback. Ohio State. Dwayne Haskins. 7. player

The Jacksonville Jaguars have to be thrilled the Giants passed on Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins at No. 6 overall. And that gives the Jags a clear path to find their long-term replacement for the officially bust-rated Blake Bortles.

It’s about time Jacksonville gave up on Bortles, isn’t it?

Bortles’ contract likely prevents him from being jettisoned this offseason, which means Jacksonville won’t be pressed into starting Haskins right away. The would-be rookie could easily secure the starting job, but it isn’t a necessity.

The Jaguars’ playoff window is still open despite the rough 2018 campaign. So, the sooner Haskins rises to the occasion, the better.
