49. . Wide Receiver. Ole Miss. A.J. Brown. 32. player

This is the pick the New Orleans Saints surrendered when they traded up for EDGE Marcus Davenport back in the 2018 NFL Draft, giving the Packers two selections in Round 1.

Green Bay addressed some secondary needs with their first pick, grabbing Deionte Thompson. The next priority should be finding a quality outside rusher to eventually replace Clay Matthews, who just wrapped up a contract year and is on the decline anyway. But we’ve reached that point in the draft where there isn’t a lot of value for a good EDGE, so the Packers look to find a younger and very prolific receiving target for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers can make so-so wide receivers look like Pro Bowlers, so just imagine what he could do with the 6-foot-1, 225-pound A.J. Brown out of Ole Miss.

Paired with fellow receiver Davante Adams, Rodgers would again have a dynamic duo of receiving targets, which would help the Packers offense get back to the level Green Bay enjoyed prior to Rodgers’ injury-laden 2017 season.
