While not having quite the impact he did in Week 13, running back Jeff Wilson Jr. again proved his ability to run the ball as he was the workhorse for the Niners offense. He kept the chains moving and ended the day with a total of 90 yards from 23 carries, averaging 3.9 yards per carry.

He also recorded one reception for six yards and one fumble which was recovered.

With No. 1 running back Matt Breida sidelined with an ankle injury, it’s good to see Wilson making the most of his opportunities and positively impacting the stat sheet. This should bode well for his long-term chances of making the 49ers’ 53-man roster in 2019.

Wilson has shown his ability to gain yards after contact. He sits at 6-foot-0 and 200 pounds, however he hits with the strength of someone much larger.

The explosiveness he shows when impacting with defenders should see him remain on the roster next season, possibly utilized in the red-zone attack.
