Cornerback. Georgia. Deandre Baker. 16. player. 54.

Under most circumstances, it would be wise for the defending Super Bowl-champion Philadelphia Eagles to take a look at an offensive tackle, especially with veteran Jason Peters turning 37 years old this upcoming January. But with the top two tackles already off the board, the Eagles can worry about another pressing need: cornerback.

LSU’s Greedy Williams is already gone, although targeting Georgia corner Deandre Baker at No. 16 would be a nice consolation prize.

The 5-foot-11 Baker doesn’t possess elite speed by any means. But he makes up for this by recognizing complex routes and adjusting his body position appropriately. Those are the skills most young defensive backs struggle with early on in their pro careers. Baker seems to have mastered those traits already.

And with the Eagles’ Ronald Darby done for the year with a torn ACL, and due to be a free agent this offseason, going after Baker early would be a smart move.
