No. 2: Linebacker C.J. Mosley

It’s getting late on a Tuesday afternoon. The San Francisco 49ers are awful. Let’s take a minute to sit back and daydream a little. Just kind of zone out.

You know what I see? A starting 49ers linebacking corps consisting of Fred Warner, Anthony Barr and Baltimore Ravens C.J. Mosley.

Yeah, I know it’s a long shot. But hey we’re dreaming here, remember?

At 26 years old, Mosley is an absolute run-stuffing thumper. Drafted 17th overall out of Alabama in 2014, Mosley was viewed in Baltimore as the heir-apparent to Ravens linebacker and Hall of Famer Ray Lewis.

Nobody is Lewis. But three Pro Bowls in his first four years and a leader in the Ravens locker room, Mosley is off to a good start.

He is an elite playmaker. The type of guy a young defense rallies around.

The problem is that the Ravens know all this too. Oh, and Mosley, high-character guy that he is, is loyal. He has said he’d like to remain in Baltimore.

I know, I know the 49ers have virtually no shot at signing him. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t try until the Ravens either re-sign him or apply the franchise tag.

Just like us, John Lynch can dream, can’t he?
