The 70th Overall Pick (2018)

Speaking about a far better partner for Reuben Foster, that’s exactly what this pick ended up doing. The 49ers selected Fred Warner with the final pick they got from the trade, and this was one of the best picks that John Lynch has made.

Warner leads the team in tackles, quite impressive for a rookie. And although he has slowed down from his exceptional start to the year, with a forced fumble and pass defense against Minnesota and 10 tackles against the Lions, he has shown a promising future for the 49ers.

Peter Panacy wrote that:

"The 49ers asked Warner to step in and fill a vital role within the defense right out of the gate. Sure, there were some early issues and miscues. But overall, the arrow is still pointing in the right direction. With a full year nearly under his belt, one can only think Warner will wind up being a staple of San Francisco’s defense for a long, long time."

A phrase that sums up Warner’s year perfectly. Next on the list.
