The 49ers haven’t exactly gotten top-tier wide receiver play this season. San Francisco’s leading wideout, statistically, is veteran pass catcher Pierre Garçon. And his 286 receiving yards on 24 receptions isn’t saying much.

Especially when considering he’s 32 years old.

Plus, the Niners need help in the red zone. At the halfway point of 2018, the 49ers rank 27th in red-zone touchdown efficiency. Not having a big-bodied, playmaking wide receiver is hurting Kyle Shanahan’s offense.

That is, of course, until the team grabs West Virginia wide receiver David Sills.

At 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, Sills almost looks more like a tight end than a receiver. But he’s projected to run just a shade above a 4.50 40-yard time at his 2019 NFL Scouting Combine, so it’s not like he lacks for acceptable speed.

If drafted, Sills would immediately be the tallest wideout on San Francisco’s roster.

And when considering his 29 receiving touchdowns the last two seasons, that might be too hard for Shanahan to pass up.
