Mike McGlinchey. 2. team. 42. . Offensive Tackle.

Joe Staley is still playing at a high level. But what separates him from the 49ers’ top pick from the 2018 NFL Draft, former Notre Dame offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey, is this:

Yes, McGlinchey isn’t just the best run-blocking rookie offensive tackle. He’s shown to be the best out of all tackles in this category so far this season.

That’s impressive.

Granted, McGlinchey could still use some work in pass protection. That wasn’t his strength in college either, although those efforts have improved since the first few weeks of 2018.

More and more, it’s looking like San Francisco made the right move by grabbing McGlinchey at No. 9 overall.
