Winner: EDGE Cassius Marsh

Have a game, Cassius Marsh.

Before Week 9, the 49ers ranked 25th in the league with just 16 sacks. They put up eight more in one game against the Raiders.

Marsh had 2.5 of those quarterback takedowns.

One of the main reasons behind San Francisco’s defensive lapses this season has been the lack of a pass rush, particularly off the edge. Marsh’s lack of production this season has been worrisome. And even with the excellent performance, it’s not at all likely the 49ers look at Marsh as a long-term, regular pass-rusher here.

But when considering him a moderate situational rusher off the edge, it’s certainly worth thinking the Niners hold onto him for a bit longer.

As a whole, San Francisco’s Week 9 pass rush made all the difference in limiting the Raiders to just 140 yards through the air and a mere 3-of-12 mark on third down.
