Running Back

Sometimes, this can be very brief. And thank God for that, because talking about the wide receivers and the defense is going to take way more time. The running back situation is being handled very well considering the injury to Jerick McKinnon, both with the short and the long term.

Second-year tailback Matt Breida has shown he’s been more than capable of putting up big numbers and breaking a defense’s back. Although his torrid start to the year has cooled down, playing in part of committee hasn’t stopped Breida from gaining 487 yards at 5.8 yards-per-carry clip, per ESPN. That is great production from your undrafted free-agent running back.

Now, sure. Breida has dealt with way too many injuries and has a issue with ball security, but for the 49ers, he is the best and youngest option to play.

Verdict: Breida stays at running back.
