No. 2: Wide Receiver Marquise Goodwin (45 Percent Owned)

49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin was being drafted as early as the sixth round of 12-man league fantasy football drafts this year. Many were expecting him to put up WR2 numbers in 2018 due to the fact that he was clearly Jimmy Garoppolo’s favorite target.

But then Goodwin suffered an injury in Week 1 that held him out until Week 3 against the Chiefs, when Garoppolo unfortunately tore his ACL, holding him out for the rest of the season.

And of course nobody had faith in C.J. Beathard to give Goodwin opportunities, so many disgruntled fantasy owners dropped the speedy receiver. His quad injury that held him out in Week 5 was the final straw for Goodwin owners, as his ownership percentage in Yahoo! leagues dipped to 41 percent (fortunately, I was part of that 41 percent that still had faith in him).

But then, of course, Goodwin shocked the nation against the Green Bay Packers on prime time, hauling in four balls for 126 yards and two touchdowns.

Here’s the thing — Goodwin’s Week 6 breakout performance was not a one-time thing. The game against Green Bay was the first time all season that he has been fully healthy. A speedster like Goodwin needs to be fully healthy to be effective. And as long as he stays healthy, he is going to put up monster numbers with Beathard throwing him the ball, which he showed on Monday night that he is more than capable of doing.

And now he gets a home matchup with the Rams, a team that has been susceptible to the deep ball.

Use your waiver on Goodwin, start him and don’t look back.
