. Houston Texans Bill O'Brien. 3. team. 10. .

For years, the Houston Texans were cursed with injuries, poor quarterbacking and… putting it plainly, bad luck.

So it makes more than enough sense head coach Bill O’Brien wasn’t viewed as one of the head coaches on the perennial NFL hot seat. This, despite the Texans never reaching 10 wins in a single season O’Brien has been at the helm.

But 2018 was supposed to be different. After all, quarterback Deshaun Watson was back from his devastating ACL injury suffered his rookie year. Defensive end J.J. Watt returned healthy from a knee issue, linebacker Whitney Mercilus returned from a season-ending pectoral injury and the team, for the most part, was as healthy and complete as it had been in years.

So why the 2-3 start?

Starting off the year with a three-game losing streak didn’t help matters. And while the Texans have managed back-to-back overtime wins over the Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys, respectively, O’Brien still has to be viewed as a candidate for being fired.

The Texans may have started to turn things around, yes. But if there’s any further regression, don’t be shocked to see O’Brien seeking employment elsewhere in 2019.
