No. 3: Alex Smith, Washington Redskins vs. Indianapolis Colts
I’ll admit, I was a little bearish on quarterback Alex Smith and his fantasy football prospects after joining the Washington Redskins this offseason.

Smith’s weapons in Washington were going to be a downgrade from what he enjoyed with the Kansas City Chiefs last year, meaning the veteran quarterback would likely be no more than a bye fill-in option or insurance against an injury-prone signal-caller.
But Smith was surgically efficient against a still-good Arizona Cardinals defense playing at home in Week 2, passing for 255 yards and two touchdowns without turning the ball over.
No surprises there.
Smith is the epitome of a quarterback who won’t hurt you in fantasy. Tack on the fact the Cardinals defense, at all three levels, boasts more talent than what Smith and the Redskins will face at home in Week 2, the Indianapolis Colts.
Plus, if Smith is able to continue taking advantage of a surprising resurgence from 33-year-old running back Adrian Peterson (70 yards receiving in Week 1), one shouldn’t be shocked to see the quarterback’s fantasy owners rewarded nicely in Week 2.
