NFL power rankings: 32-team overreactions heading into Week 2
By Peter Panacy
Quarterback Andrew Luck still might not be enough to get the Indianapolis Colts back above the .500 mark this season.
He was solid after missing all of 2017 with a shoulder injury, tossing for over 300 yards with two touchdowns against an interception. And he was a big reason the Colts went 11-of-17 on third-down attempts too.
Not bad at all.
But what hurt Indy’s chances in head coach Frank Reich’s debut was both the lack of a running game and a largely impotent defense, which gave up two touchdowns in the Cincinnati Bengals’ two red-zone trips on the day.
Oh, and that fourth-quarter Bengals comeback didn’t help much either.
The Colts are simply one of those teams still needing to learn how to close out opponents and win games late. Until then, you’re likely to see a lot of contests go by the way of their Week 1 efforts.
