No. 3: Offensive Line Issues

The injuries that right guards Joshua Garnett and Mike Person suffered during the game killed the 49ers’ chances of getting a win. Garry Gilliam had to slide in at right tackle since, apparently he does not know how to play guard, and the offensive line just collapsed after that.

First-round rookie, offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey, before sliding in at right guard, was not impressive, giving up pressure to Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen.

The run blocking was also subpar, especially at the goal line, where Alfred Morris had what seemed like a thousand opportunities to hit paydirt but never did.

Obviously the offensive line could have looked weak today merely due to the fact Minnesota’s front seven is one of the most lethal in the league.

But this was an uninspiring performance by the unit that 49ers fans should truly hope will improve.
