Wide Receiver Marquise Goodwin Continues to Flash
While the most impressive wide receiver at Niners training camp thus far might be the rookie, Dante Pettis, veteran wideout Marquise Goodwin certainly has had his share of big moments.
The speedy receiver already made a number of big moves in camp, although quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo struggled to hit him with the deep ball a couple of times on Saturday. The two worked on drills after practice, and that paid off handsomely the following day.
On Monday, there was this (h/t Niners Wire’s Rob Lowder):
OK, so that’s a bit more of a trick play than anything else. But Goodwin’s maturation last year has carried over nicely into 2018. He’s all but solidified himself as the team’s No. 2 receiver on the roster and a likely regular target for Garoppolo this season.
Speaking of Garoppolo’s deep passing, the quarterback managed to his rookie wideout Richie James on a 35-yard pass later in the day.
James is another young receiver impressing this training camp.
