Loser: Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon

Second-year cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon has received plenty of praise and attention this offseason, and working alongside three-time All-Pro corner Richard Sherman will help matters a lot.

Witherspoon had some positive moments the first two days of camp. But he was also victimized a couple of times when the pads came on.

And badly by this move from second-year wide receiver Victor Bolden, who was an offensive non-factor last season:

Later on day three, Dante Pettis created some separation against Witherspoon for a nice grab too:

It’s still early in camp, so one shouldn’t read too much into Witherspoon’s struggles. Especially with these allowed receptions coming on the first day of padded practice.

Yet Witherspoon is going to hold a vital role in the 49ers secondary this year, so he’ll want to bounce back as quickly as possible.
