49ers Tight End to Watch in 2018: Garrett Celek

While watching the Garoppolo era to close out the season was exciting, the team was lacking when it came to converting in the red zone.

Well, don’t look now, but Celek has a chance to be one of the solutions to that problem.

While Celek isn’t a huge part of the offense and only caught eight passes during the games Garoppolo started in, two of those were caught for touchdowns.

The 49ers didn’t spend any early picks on offensive weapons, save for Washington wide receiver Dante Pettis, so some players from last season will have to step up to improve the 49ers’ efficiency once they get within 25 yards.

Celek may just be that player.

If he impresses in camp and earns himself more snaps, he could very well find himself a favored target for Garoppolo.
