Ranking the 49ers’ top 10 special teamers of all time

No. 5: Kicker Robbie Gould
Yes, I am aware that Robbie Gould has only been on the team for one year so far.

But in the one year so far that he has kicked for the team, Gould has been nothing but spectacular on and off the field.
The first thing that actually came to my mind when I saw that the 49ers had signed Gould was the 49ers’ 2015 game against the Bears, where Gould missed the game-winning chip shot in the final seconds of regulation and forced the game into overtime, where the Blaine Gabbert-led 49ers somehow ended up winning.
So yes, I was disappointed with the signing. I got even more worried when I saw him miss multiple practice field goals in the 49ers’ 2017 open practice.
However, Gould ended up emerging as a true fan favorite over the course of the 2017 season, consistently making kick after kick, including going 4-of-4 on 50-plus yarders on the season.
Nobody can forget the clutch game winners he had against the Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans to give Jimmy Garoppolo two extra wins under his belt.
If he keeps this up for at least five more seasons, Gould should be recognized as one of the greatest 49ers kickers of all time.
