Safety Marcell Harris

This pick actually reminded me a lot of the seventh-round pick John Lynch made last year for current starting safety Adrian Colbert.

Both Colbert and Marcell Harris are late-round safeties. They are both very comparable in their frames as well — Colbert is 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, while Harris is 6-foot-1 and 216 pounds. They both hit receivers hard and are decent in coverage.

However, Harris is coming off of a torn Achilles, which can stunt development. I still believe he has great potential to become a starting safety on this team, and this potential outweighs the Achilles problem.

I’m glad Lynch made this pick.

The Harris pick is merely a depth pick, but a good one at that. The team’s safety position is loaded with Colbert, Jaquiski Tartt and now Harris.

Harris will not start this season unless Tartt or Colbert get hurt. But if they do, the secondary will still be in good hands with Harris on board.
