NFL power rankings: 32-team breakdown after the 2018 NFL Draft
By Peter Panacy
Best Pick: EDGE Josh Sweat, Florida State
We’re long at that point in our NFL power rankings where the teams listed didn’t have to worry too much about making a lot of splashes in the draft.
Same goes with the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, who used their first pick on tight end Dallas Goedert (Round 2) of South Dakota State to replace the free-agent departed Brent Celek. Paired with fellow TE Zach Ertz, Philly’s pass offense just become all the more dangerous, as opposing teams will have a tough time defending against two tight ends.
In Round 4, the Eagles maximized the value by grabbing Florida State EDGE Josh Sweat, who is an undervalued-but-talented pass-rusher off the outside.
This wasn’t a need for Philadelphia, per se, but teams should never hesitate to add another quality pass-rusher when one is available.
Sweat is just that, providing solid depth and a key rotational piece off the edge.
